Speech title: Power Grid Transition for Decarbonization


Biography: Professor Kashem Muttaqi is the Director of the Australian Research Council Industrial Transformation Training Centre in Energy Technologies for Future Grids in Australia. He is also the Director of the Australian Power and Energy Research Institute (APERI) at the University of Wollongong, Australia. He is a Distinguished Professor and Discipline Leader – Electrical Engineering at the School of Engineering, University of Wollongong.
Professor Muttaqi received the B.Sc. degree in electrical and electronic engineering from Bangladesh University of Engineering and Technology in 1993, the M.Eng.Sc. degree in electrical engineering from the University of Malaya, Malaysia in 1996 and the Ph.D. degree in Electrical Engineering from the Multimedia University, Malaysia in 2001. Professor Muttaqi has 30 years of academic experience and has authored or co-authored more than 600 papers in international journals and conference proceedings. He has supervised around 35 higher-degree research students to completion. He has attracted more than $60 million in research funding. Professor Muttaqi is the Editor-in-Chief of the IEEE Transactions on Industry Applications. He was an Executive Board Member of the IEEE Industry Applications Society (IAS). He is a Fellow of the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE), USA. He is a Fellow of the Institution of Engineering and Technology (IET), UK. He is also a Fellow of the Institution of Engineers Australia.





Prof. Zhiwei Wang

Biography: Mr. Wang Zhiwei is now a Professor-level Senior Engineer and Advisor of State Grid Jiangsu Electric Power Co., Ltd..(JSEPC). Mr. Wang earned his Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees at Southeast University in 1988 and 1991, respectively. He has held key positions including Vice President of JSEPC, President of Global Energy Interconnection Research Institute North America, Director of State Grid’s U.S. Office, Assistant Director of the International Cooperation Department of State Grid, General Manager of State Grid Wuxi Power Supply Company, Deputy Chief Engineer of JSEPC, Director of the Development Department of JSEPC, and Director of the Power Grid Planning Research Center of JSEPC. Mr. Wang has long been engaged in the management and research of power system planning and development. He has participated in and presided over multiple rounds of the “Five-Year Plan” for Jiangsu’s power development over the past 30-plus years, as well as numerous major power generation and transmission projects. Since 2020, Mr. Wang has been in charge of the strategic planning of the 500kV and 220kV power grids in Jiangsu Province, the planning of large-scale renewable generation interconnections to the grid, and the strategic planning of “New Type Power System” in Jiangsu. He has also been responsible for the planning, research, construction and commissioning of the ± 200kV Embedded and “AC-to-DC” Transmission Project from Yangzhou to Zhenjiang across the Yangtze River. He also led and promoted the optimization, upgrading and implementation of the ± 800kV Yucheng (Gusu) converter Station’s three-terminal flexible HVDC system with a capacity of 2GW power conversion project, and at the same time, Mr. Wang also presided over the implementation management of a number of large-scale, key projects, including the ± 800kV Baihetan-Jiangsu UHVDC transmission Project (the part within Jiangsu), the 500kV Fengcheng-Meili Power Transmission Project, and the Jiangsu Transmission Phase Shifter Project etc. Mr. Wang has published a number of SCI-indexed papers, and won several Best Paper Awards at the IEEE PES General Meeting. Mr. Wang Zhiwei is a Fellow of IET and a Senior Member of IEEE.

Speech Title: Driving Resilience: Harnessing Mobile Energy Hubs for Electrical Distribution Network Resilience

Biography: Prof. Jamshid Aghaei is a researcher and academic in renewable and sustainable energy systems, serving as a professor at the School of Engineering and Technology, Central Queensland University, Australia. As a Senior Member of IEEE, his work focuses on advancing decarbonised, digitalised, decentralised, and democratised power and energy systems, including smart grids, power system operation and planning, distributed energy integration, electricity markets, optimisation, AI, and data analytics. He has contributed to over 300 publications and more than 20 national and international research projects. His work has been recognised with an h-index of 76 and over 16,000 citations, and he has been listed among the top 2% of researchers worldwide by Stanford University. Prof. Aghaei places great value on mentoring the next generation of researchers, having guided more than 50 master’s students, 30 Ph.D. students, and 3 postdoctoral researchers. He also contributes to the academic community as an editor and associate editor for several respected journals, including IEEE Transactions on Smart Grid, IEEE Transactions on Cloud Computing, IEEE Systems Journal, IEEE Open Access Journal of Power and Energy, Electric Power System Research, and IET journals.

Assoc. Prof. Lei Chen

Speech Title: Resilience Enhancement In Multi-Energy-Coupled Active Distribution Networks Against Typhoon Events

Biography: Prof. Lei Chen received the B.S. and Ph.D. degrees in Electrical Engineering from the School of Electrical and Electronic Engineering, Huazhong University of Science and Technology (HUST), Wuhan, China, in 2004 and 2010. From 2011 to 2013, he was a Postdoctoral Researcher at HUST. Since 2013, he has been at Wuhan University, Wuhan, China. From 2016 to 2017, he was a Visiting Scholar at the Nanyang Technological University, Singapore. He is currently an Associate Professor in the School of Electrical Engineering and Automation at Wuhan University. His research interests include power system stability and the enhancement of resilience. Prof. Chen has authored or coauthored more than 200 papers. He was the recipient of eight IEEE Prize Paper Awards and the Excellent Associate Editor for the Protection and Control of Modern Power Systems (PCMP) in 2022, 2023, and 2024. He received the IEEE PES China Satellite Technical Committee Outstanding Young Professionals Award in 2025.





Prof. Yankai XING

Speech Title:Key Technologies for Non-Contact 3D Sensing-Based Intelligent Perception of Renewable Power Transmission System

Biography: Yankai XING is a Professor in the Chengdu University of Technology (CDUT), Chengdu, China. As a Member of IEEE, her research interests include renewable power system stability control, renewable energy integration, and intelligent non-contact measurement technologies for power grids. Prof. Yankai XING received the B.Sc. and M.Sc. degrees in electrical engineering and its automation from Harbin University of Science and Technology, Harbin, China, in 2013 and 2016, respectively. She received the Ph.D. degree in the same field from École Centrale de Nantes, Nantes, France, in 2021, During her doctoral studies, she participated in research projects with Réseau de Transport d'Électricité (RTE), France. She has presided over 2 national and provincial/ministerial-level projects, including the National Natural Science Foundation of China (NSFC). She has published more than 30 papers, with a Google Scholar citation count of 379 and an h-index of 11. She serves as a guest editor for the Sustainability special issue and has acted as a session chair for international conferences such as ICSGSC and AEEES





Dr. Yuanxing Xia

Speech Title: Transactive Energy Market Mechanism Design and Security Assessment Theory for New Power Systems

Biography: I obtained my Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering and Automation from Hohai University in 2019 and earned my Ph.D. in Power Systems from Southeast University in 2023. In November 2023, I joined Hohai University as a lecturer. My primary research interests include the design of local energy market mechanisms for distributed renewable energy and the optimal scheduling and allocation of demand-side energy storage. As the first author, I have published more than ten SCI/EI-indexed journal papers, including 15 papers in top-tier (Q1) journals ranked by the Chinese Academy of Sciences, with a cumulative impact factor exceeding 150. My publications have been cited over 900 times on Google Scholar, and I currently hold an H-index of 20. Additionally, I have been granted 13 national invention patents as the first or second inventor.
